ブリング・ミンヨー・バック！
民謡とは、民衆の生活の中から自然発生的に生まれ、伝承されてきた音楽である。
失われた音楽「日本民謡」をもう一度「民の歌」として蘇らせるため、クンビア、ラテン、アフロ、レゲエなど様々なダンス・ミュージックとの融合を試みるバンド、民謡クルセイダーズに5年間密着したドキュメンタリー!
民謡は死んだのか!?民謡クルセイダーズは、東京・福生を拠点に活動するバンドで、日本各地の民謡にラテンやアフロビートをミックスして独自のアレンジを加えている。2019年にはワールドツアーを行い、南米コロンビア、ヨーロッパ各国、オーストラリア、ニュージーランドを回った。本作の撮影は2017年から始まり、2019年のワールドツアーにも同行し、彼らが民謡を再構築して現代のオーディエンスに「民謡を取り戻す」過程に密着している。コロンビアでは現地のバンド Frente cumbiero とセッションし、民謡のさらなるアップデートを模索する。また、元ちとせや久保田麻琴などの著名なミュージシャンや、ピーター・バラカンや岸野雄一などの評論家へのインタビューを通して、「民謡とは何か」を探っていく。
Min'yo is music that arose spontaneously from the lives of the people and has been handed down from generation to generation. This documentary follows the Min'yo Crusaders for five years as they attempt to revive the lost music of Japanese min'yo as "people's songs" by fusing it with various dance music such as cumbia, Latin, afro, and reggae! Is Minyo dead? Minyo Crusaders is a band based in Fussa, Tokyo, that mixes folk songs from all over Japan with Latin and Afro beats and adds their unique arrangements. In 2019, they went on a world tour, visiting Colombia in South America, various European countries, Australia, and New Zealand. Filming for this film began in 2017 and will accompany them on their 2019 world tour, closely following their process of reimagining folk songs and "reclaiming" them for contemporary audiences. In Colombia, they will have a session with local band Frente Cumbiero to explore further updates of folk songs. Through interviews with prominent musicians such as Motochitose and Makoto Kubota, and critics such as Peter Barakan and Yuichi Kishino, the film also explores the question of "What is Min’yo?“

京都府出身。クラブＤＪ・ターンテーブリスト・怪談蒐集家。都内主要クラブを始めパリ・シカゴ・ウラジオストク・上海など海外でのＤＪを展開する傍ら、怪談蒐集家として活動。クラブ怪談イベント「アンダーグラウンド怪談レジスタンス」「恵比寿怪談会」等、音とアートと怪談を融合した気鋭の怪談ライブをプロデュースする他、怪談系トークライブ、ＴＶ番組や映像作品への出演等、その活動は多岐にわたる。著書に『地下怪談 忌影』、共著に『現代怪談 地獄めぐり 無間』など。
Born in Kyoto, yohei HIBIKI is a club DJ, turntablist, and avid collector of ghost stories. While spinning records at major clubs across Tokyo and internationally in cities like Paris, Chicago, Vladivostok, and Shanghai, he also passionately curates eerie tales. He has pioneered innovative live ghost story experiences that blend sound, art, and the supernatural, including events like "Underground Ghost Story Resistance" and "Ebisu Ghost Story Society." His expertise extends to ghost story-themed talk shows, TV appearances, and video productions.
He is the author of Underground Ghost Stories: The Shadow of the Shadow and co-author of Gendai Kaidan Jigoku Meguri Muken (Gendai Kaidan: The Ghost Stories of Jigoku Meguri).
1982年生。早稲田大学卒業後、広告の撮影部からキャリアをスタートし、その後 編集プロダクションを経て2011年に独立。現在東京を拠点に、CMやMVのディレクター・エディターとして活動している。高い評価を得たドキュメンタリー映画『ブリング・ミンヨー・バック！』の監督でもある。
Born in 1982, he graduated from Waseda University and began his career in the photography department of an advertising company. He then transitioned to an editing production company before becoming independent in 2011. Now based in Tokyo, he works as a director and editor for commercials and music videos. He is also the director of the highly acclaimed documentary Bring Ming Yo Back!

Katsumi Tanaka is the driving force behind Minyo Crusaders, a band reimagining traditional Japanese folk songs (min'yō) with global rhythms from Latin, African, Caribbean, and Asian music. Min'yō, originally a form of working-class folk music passed down through generations, is known for its passionate, narrative-driven lyrics and distinctive vocal styles. After moving to Fussa in the late '90s, Tanaka teamed up with Tsukamoto to form the band, blending these traditional min'yō vocals with diverse influences like cumbia, Ethiopian jazz, and reggae. The band grew with the addition of seasoned musicians, becoming a staple of the Tokyo music scene and gaining national attention through festivals like Fuji Rock in 2018.
