田中克海は、日本の伝統的な民謡をラテン、アフリカ、カリブ、アジア音楽のグローバルなリズムで再構築するバンド、民謡クルセイダーズの原動力である。民謡は元来、労働者階級に何世代にもわたって受け継がれてきた民俗音楽の一形態であり、情熱的で物語性のある歌詞と独特のヴォーカル・スタイルで知られている。90年代後半に福生に移り住んだ田中は、塚本と組んでバンドを結成し、民謡の伝統的なボーカルにクンビア、エチオピア・ジャズ、レゲエなどさまざまな影響を融合させた。バンドはベテランミュージシャンを加えながら成長し、東京の音楽シーンの定番となり、2018年にはフジロックなどのフェスティバルを通じて全国的な注目を集めた。
Katsumi Tanaka is the driving force behind Minyo Crusaders, a band reimagining traditional Japanese folk songs (min'yō) with global rhythms from Latin, African, Caribbean, and Asian music. Min'yō, originally a form of working-class folk music passed down through generations, is known for its passionate, narrative-driven lyrics and distinctive vocal styles. After moving to Fussa in the late '90s, Tanaka teamed up with Tsukamoto to form the band, blending these traditional min'yō vocals with diverse influences like cumbia, Ethiopian jazz, and reggae. The band grew with the addition of seasoned musicians, becoming a staple of the Tokyo music scene and gaining national attention through festivals like Fuji Rock in 2018.
